Uzbekistan is on its way to economic prosperity and is making rapid steps towards strengthening its position on the world stage. Over the past five years, the country has achieved impressive indicators of economic growth and development. Uzbekistan's economy has grown by 24 per cent, and industry has even grown by 34 per cent. Exports have increased significantly and foreign investment has tripled, increasing threefold.

These successes reflect Uzbekistan's strategic approach to developing its economy and strengthening its place in the global economy. Over the next five years, the country plans to attract huge investments of $120 billion, of which at least $70 billion will be foreign investment. This will allow Uzbekistan to realise ambitious plans to increase economic growth by 1.5 times and achieve a GDP of $100 billion. The volume of industrial output is also planned to increase by 1.4 times.

One of the key elements of this strategy is the development of the transport and road construction sector. There is a strong emphasis on public-private partnership projects, which are expected to attract $14 billion of investment. This is contributing to an increase in domestic and international freight transport. Increasing transport corridors and optimising logistics are becoming fundamental elements in the successful development of Uzbekistan's economy.

Sustainable development of the country is also linked to reducing dependence on raw materials. Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of finished products in its exports, which will reduce the share of raw materials to 23 per cent. These changes will make the economy more sustainable and reduce dependence on fluctuations in global commodity markets.

Uzbekistan is also actively developing its international ties and participation in world organisations. This includes membership in the Commonwealth of Independent States, the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

In addition, the country maintains close relations with Switzerland. Both countries actively cooperate in international financial institutions and in regional cooperation programmes. An important part of this co-operation is to support the sustainable use of water resources, improve water supply and introduce important reforms in vocational education.

Economic co-operation between Uzbekistan and Switzerland is also actively developing. There are about 30 companies with Swiss investment, and the volume of trade between the countries remains at a high level. These relations focus on imports of precious metals from Uzbekistan and exports of chemical products, machinery and precision instruments to Uzbekistan.

In September 2023, the National Development Strategy of Uzbekistan until 2030 was adopted, which highlights key areas of development. These include supporting economic growth, conserving water resources and protecting the environment, and improving a citizen-centred administrative system.

Uzbekistan continues its journey to prosperity and development, and its strategic plans promise it a successful future in the global economy.
